
During pregnancy, we should think about some things to make sure that we and our baby will stay healthy. A healthy diet is an important consideration at any point of time.
Eating healthy foods will help the baby develop, grow and fit. Just make sure to eat a variety of foods everyday in order to get the right balance of nutrients that you and your baby need. Remember that the food quality not the quantity is important.
Fruits and Vegetables:
Try to eat at least five servings a day. This food group includes fresh, frozen and canned fruit and vegetables, salads, dried fruit and fruit juices. Pure fruit juice is better. These provide vitamins and minerals as well as fibers which help prevent constipation.
Meat and Fish
Try to eat one or two servings a day. This includes meat, fish, poultry, eggs, beans, and nuts. Just avoid liver and peanuts.
Bread, potatoes and other cereals
Make this food as the main part of every meal. This includes bread, potatoes, breakfast cereals, pasta, rice, oats, noodles, and other cereals.
Milk and Dairy Foods
Try to eat servings a day. This includes milk, cheese and yoghurt. Try eating low- fat varieties as you can. These contain calcium and other nutrients needed for baby’s development.
